In May, I attended SAP’s SapphireNOW conference in Orlando, Florida. It was a great experience. I demoed how to create a Smart Factory with SAP ME/MII. I also had the chance to see how other companies are utilizing SAP. One of the demos that stood out to me was the Boardroom of the Future. The demo showed real-time data in graphs and charts that could be drilled down to a specific country or profit level. Pretty neat, I could see my bosses wanting one.

Based on what I’ve seen and read here are 4 things that finally make me excited about SAP S/4 Hana.
SAP Hana’s Updated UI
I’m excited that SAP has finally gotten with the times and upgraded their user interface. It is not only graphic but it is so clean and fresh that you can’t help but look at it. Fiori makes you want to work just by its simplicity in design.
Statistical & Analytical Ability
The statistical and analytical ability. When I attended SAP’s SapphireNOW I got to see first hand the future “digital boardroom”. With SAP S/4Hana there is no more need for endless Excel worksheets. With a few clicks of a mouse, you could bring up all the data and cost models imaginable. Oh, by the way, it updates in real time.
Cloud Integration
Simple cloud integration. The cloud is one of the building blocks to digital transformation with its simplicity, speed to innovation, and time to value. Companies can go live directly on SAP S/4Hana’s Cloud platform to get started and can move to on-premise solutions later.
Digital Transformation
SAP S/4Hana is designed to enable Digital Transformation. In order to create SAP S/4Hana, SAP dove into finding businesses’ trouble spots. They found that dispersed information and the lack of today’s technology is being able to analyze data, creating more data latency.
Digital Transformation is the use of new technology to drive business innovation. SAP S/4 Hana was designed to be that new technology by aggregating data on the fly buys pulling data instead of pushing it.
Remember, software is a tool we use to help us do a job. Individuals need to look at which tool is right for them, as there are many options. SAP S/4 Hana is new and exciting but there are plenty of other tools on the market.
