Take 10 Minutes to Get Started With NO CODE

Ok… so this week’s No Code challenge took me a little longer than 10 minutes. The challenge was to make a stock tracker app using Google Sheets and Glide. Thankfully, the No Code guys shared a link on how to use Google Finance formulas.

At first, this app seemed intimidating. I took Finance 101 in college but that’s almost a decade ago. Also, I’m a bit out of practice with Google Sheets. Apparently, all I needed was a pint of Ben & Jerry’s and some toddler-free time to figure it out.

10 Minutes to a No Code App

Now that I’ve done the hard part for you, making this yourself should only take about 10 minutes. 😉

  1. Get a data set. I downloaded the list of stocks on the Nasdaq 100. There is also the NYSE and S&P 500.
  2. In a Google Sheet with columns for stock symbols, names, and Google Finance formulas you want to use (these are called attributes).
  3. Log in to Glide using your Google credentials.
  4. Import the Google sheet.
  5. The list of stocks display!

From there you can play around with Google Sheets and Glide to make the app function in different ways and look pretty.
