Most Popular Posts of 2020

Hi All, I started writing this post but then WordPress glitched out and I can’t find the revision history to get back everything I lost. Then, it keeps giving me this error: Updating failed. Sorry, you are not allowed to edit this post. Yeah, maybe 2020 calls for a new blogging site. Can you fix this, @WordPress?

Anyways, I wanted to write a quick post to test out WordPress’s new sharing feature, Twitter Thread. Instead of sharing a single link to this post, WordPress should turn the post, photos and all, into a Twitter thread. We shall see.

To test the new feature, I am sharing with you the top five most viewed posts from 2020. None of these posts are ones that I wrote this year. But that’s OK. In blogging, we like to play the long game.

Update

The Twitter Thread feature didn’t work. Even though I selected the Twitter Thread option, WordPress only shared out a single Tweet. Plus, when you embed a Tweet from Twitter to WordPress, Twitter now removes all formatting.

So much for using the internet to share.

5. How to Use DISC Communication Styles in Virtual Teams

Everyone is working remote this year, at least anyone who is able, which makes it a great time to learn how to work together in virtual teams! A few years ago I attended a PMI meeting where we learned from an expert about DISC Communication styles. In this blog post, I converted them for use in remote teams.

4. Social Media, Kids, and Human Trafficking

Did you know?

  • Tinder Terms of Service allows 13 year olds on the app.
  • If an underage kid sends a naked picture, they can be prosecuted. If your kid receives a naked photo from an underage kid, they can be prosecuted.
  • 12 to 14 years are the average age kids are taken (girls are 70% more likely to be taken).

You didn’t? Better read this post.

3. 5 Steps to a Successful Conference Room Pilot

I’m so proud this post keeps getting views. It’s one of the first blog posts I wrote. Conference room pilots are a part (or should be) of implementing new software. CRPs give end users hands on time with the product before its finished.

2. The Top 10 VR Apps for Remote Workers

The field of virtual reality apps is constantly changing, which means this list is too. Every year I have to update it with new apps that came to market and knock off the VR apps that didn’t make it. The field brutal but what better time for VR remote work apps to succeed?

1. The Problem with Telling Bossy Girls they have Leadership Skills

Does bossy equal leadership? Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO, said so. I take on her statement in a post about being the boss vs. being a leader, and what we should tell our kids instead.

I am finding formatting, including links, and unexpectedly losing content difficult, but recognize continued and dedicated practice and exploration of the features will help. I really appreciated that top views included important social issues and teasing apart the important pieces and differences between bossiness and leadership. A vast difference indeed. I hope you have a wonderful day 🤍
