In The Home Edit, Clea and Joanna talk about how to get rid of toys their kids no longer play with. The key to getting rid of toys is to not ask your kid if they still like it. They will say yes. You will not be able to get rid of it.
This made me think of the mantra, “it’s better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.”
Fun Fact: The quote, “It is easier to beg forgiveness than to seek permission.” comes from St. Benedict more than 1,400 years ago.
The quote, “Always remember that it’s much easier to apologize than to get permission,” comes from famed computer science engineer, Grace Hopper. “In this world of computers, the best thing to do is to do it.” I love that.
Today’s Assignment: Do something that you’ve been too afraid to ask for permission
The only person who can grant you permission is yourself. I’m not saying there won’t be consequences but when it comes to your career the only person looking out for it is you.
