2021 A Year In Review

This year was crazy. I never knew I could do so much as a freelancer.

I edited a book! The Augmented Workforce: How AR, AI, and 5G Will Impact Every Dollar You Make came out early in 2021. I had the honor of editing it for Cathy Hackl and John Buzzell.

Became a certified Soul Machines Digital Conversationalist. This means I am certified to design conversational workflows for clients seeking to use Soul Machine’s Digital Humans.

Spoke at the Global VR/AR Summit. I had a great time talking about marketing with augmented and virtual reality. This is a great intro talk for those interested in marketing in the metaverse.

Went on air with Kait Borsay at Times Radio UK to talk about Facebook’s smartwatch.

Spoke on Laura Brigg’s podcast about how to start a freelance writing career.

Promoted to Head Metaverse Content Researcher at Futures Intelligence Group.

  1. Developed metaverse strategies for two different Fortune 500 companies
  2. Part of the Futures Intelligence Team tapped by Clinique to co-develop their first NFT strategy.
  3. Boson Protocol named Futures Intelligence Group as their Metaverse Agency of Record. “Lily!! You are part of why we are able to do this. Thank you!!!” – Cathy Hackl

I am a professor at Rebuplic Realm Academy (use my promo metaverselily15 for 15% off registration). I’m teaching a class on the foundations of the metaverse. The course starts February 1, 2022, so make sure to sign up!

Landed 3 new clients from LinkedIn. How? I set my status as open for work and stayed active in my online community. This year I had the joy of writing for clients about augmented reality, the metaverse, business strategy, technology, and the future of commerce.

As a bonus, I was chosen to be an Alumni Champion for my alma mater, Grand Valley State University. I’ve had a blast catching up with old classmates and seeing where our lives and careers have taken us over the years.

What did you do this year that you’re proud of? Let me know in the comments!
